Unappreciative Seagull Rescue
Tuesday, July 27, 2010 Dan Flaherty sends in this photo and rescue story on the Union Wharf waterfront:
This poor seagull was trapped. His leg was stuck in the crack of a wood pylon. I walked over to the Boston Fire Marine division and shared the story of this poor birds plight. LT LeBlanc and his crew offered to swing over and check it out. A minute or two later they arrived. After a moment of combating the tidal influences they tied off and were subsequently able to free the bird using a pry-bar… in the process the unappreciative gull took a bite at his savior ..causing a break in the skin and ultimately a trip to the ER for a tetanus shot for this feathered fowl hero.
